Have you ever dreamed of writing a novel, short story, memoir or poetry collection?
Perhaps you've had an idea for years but never known where to start. Maybe you've started writing but lost confidence, or you simply want to improve your skills and write alongside like-minded people.
If that sounds familiar, I'd love to welcome you to my next Creative Writing Course, which begins on Wednesday 2nd September 2026 (6pm - 8pm) at Inchgarth Community Centre's new building in Aberdeen.

A Course for Writers of All Abilities
Whether you're picking up a pen for the very first time or already have work in progress, this friendly and supportive course is designed to help you develop your writing skills at your own pace.
Throughout the course, we'll explore topics including:
Creating believable characters
Writing compelling dialogue
Building plots and story structure
Developing memorable settings
Finding your unique writing voice
Show, Don't Tell
Point of View
Editing and polishing your work
Getting published and self-publishing
There are plenty of practical exercises, discussions and opportunities to share your work in a relaxed and encouraging environment.
Real Success Stories
One of the most rewarding parts of teaching creative writing is seeing students achieve goals they never thought possible.
Recently, I had the privilege of helping one of my students, Peter McGhee, publish his very first poetry collection at the age of 75. Watching Peter hold his finished book for the first time was a wonderful reminder that it's never too late to become a published author.
His success shows that everyone has a story worth telling.
