Welcome to Week 1 of this Creative Writing course. This first session focuses on removing pressure, unlocking ideas, and understanding what creative writing really is — not perfection, but expression and exploration.

Many new writers think they need to be “naturally talented” to write well. In reality, strong writing grows from practice, curiosity, and learning a few core tools — which is exactly what this course is designed to support.

Watch the Creative Writing - Week 1 Lesson:

In this session we cover:

  • What creative writing really means

  • Letting go of perfection and writing freely

  • Finding ideas from everyday life

  • Building a regular writing habit

  • Why messy first drafts are good drafts

This Week’s Writing Exercise

Write a short scene based on a simple everyday moment — but add tension, emotion, or surprise.

You don’t need perfect ideas — you need a starting point.
